On The Media: Michigan's Muckrak
Thirteen people were charged for the poisoned water that people were drinking. The crazy thing about the story is the people were drinking this poisoned water for approximately two years before this crisis was brought to attention. In late 2013 the city of Flint decided to part ways with Detroit's expensive water system. After this was done it took Flint two years to start up a new water system, they started to build and start the new stem with Flint's River. Four years later after doing that e. coli and chlorine was found in the water. People complained about there eyes burning, losing hair, the taste of the water was nasty, the water even had lead poisoning found inside it etc. With all of these problems with the water the city council and state officials steady denied it claiming it was a perception problem for Flint. This story was kept privately because the governor was telling them that their water is safe and kept it a secret but the people of the state found other resources to prove their claim.
The Flint water dilemma is pretty disturbing. I have started to look into it and I just do not understand how they have gotten a way with all of this for as long as they have. They lied about all of it and acted like they had no idea. But now that everybody knows and people are finally starting to make in a known issue the state does not want to supply the people with drinking water and i just do not understand how they can get a way with that.
